CATWOMAN: SOULSTEALER – Sarah J. Maas (Honest Review)

Genre: Young Adult – Urban Fantasy
Target Audience: 12+
Rating: A (92%)
Goodreads Rating: 5/5

As anyone that’s been following me for any length of time might know, I have an obsession with Sarah J Maas. I find all of her books absolutely fantastic, and although it took me a hot minute to get my sweaty hands onto a copy of Soulstealer, it was absolutely worth the wait.

Perhaps I’m going to be bias in my review, because of my love for this author, but I’ll try my best to reign in my perspective.

If you’re unaware what this book is about, it’s actually the third to a series (DC Icons), but can standalone as it is. It follows our man character, Selina Kyle who because the famous and much-loved villain, Catwoman. It follows an incredible plot, that my claws couldn’t dream of seperating from. I think I managed to chow this one down in only a few short hours!

I loved the characterisation and family, and just the ability to captivate the people and emotions within this novel. Comparing it to everything I’ve read by Sarah J Maas, is it her best work? No. Can I see her writing style and plot archs within this novel? Absolutely. Everything about Selina screams Sarah J Maas. Honestly, she’s the best author to pick for Catwoman, especially taking her Throne of Glass series into consideration.

The only fault I can make is that it didn’t have me at the edge of my seat wondering; ‘what on earth could happen next?’. It was high stakes, it was enjoyable, but some moments were predictable. (Except for the end, but let’s not dive into that.–it was marvellous). Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed myself reading it, and highly recommend giving it a go yourself!

The break down of my rating:
Characterisation: 9/10
Style & Tone: 9/10
Enjoyment Factor: 10/10
