THIS IS NOT A DRILL.
I REPEAT. THIS IS NOT A DRILL.
Soooo… This isn’t the first time I’ve met Lynette Noni (and it probably won’t be the last – let’s be real), but it was just as magical as the last. I remember the first time I met her, at the very first Book Launch in Brisbane and it was incredible. There was only a small group and we were all sitting about anticipating the launch of Draekora, the third book in the Medoran Chronicles. It was amazing, because there were cupcakes with the books on them for one, but the entire space was dressed up. There was a Akarnae Academy board roaming around that you could take photos behind and pretend you’re a student, which was sick.
Unfortunately, this time around, they didn’t do that. I understand why, the group was much larger. It had expanded from thirty people to nearly two hundred. They simply didn’t have time for all the fun stuff anymore, and that’s understandable. It still sucks though.
Lynette and the team behind the event still tried their best to make it amazing, and it shows. It was still incredible. Everyone got a rainbow swirl lollipop and there were Akarnae themed badges and cards you got to take at the end.
If you ever get the opportunity to attend one of her events, do it god damn it. You won’t regret it. Her books are amazing, she’s an incredible human being and her books are amazing. Duh. Read them.
The event made me super happy. I was glad I got to go. Now cue the two or three photos I actually took on the night.
