Welcome back to Tiggity Tag Friday! Where I pick a book tag, give credit where it’s due and ignore the rest of the rules! If you feel like participating in this tag, you’re officially tagged 😛 You should definitely link me to where you’ve done this tag or any other tag! Feel free to even play along in the comments!
A massive thank you to the creator of this tag, The Act Diary. Go check her out, she’s amazing! Now, let’s get going with the tag!
First Draft: A book or series that you’ve never read before.
The Maze Runner by James Dashner. I’ve yet to get my grubby little hands on a copy, mostly because of the mixed reviews. One person will be telling me that it’s the best thing EVER and another will say that they haven’t read anything WORSE. And I dunno about you, but I find those two a little contradicting.
Second Draft:A book or series you didn’t like as much the second time you read it.
I don’t think I’m to only one in this boat, if I’m going to be perfectly honest. I also don’t think that it’s necessarily a bad series, I just grew out of it. The series I’m talking about is, of course, Twilight by Stephanie Meyer. I loved this series and still do, with all my heart. It’s the one that truly introduced me to YA and to the genres that I love the most. I will always love this book and this series, I just didn’t love it diving into it as an adult.
Final Draft:A book or series that you’ve liked for a really long time.
One good thing that did come from my vampire craze is The Vampire Academy. I love this series so much. I’ve reread it multiple times and still can’t help but fawn over Dimitri and stand up for Rose and Lissa. LOVE IT!
Killing Off Your Characters:A book or series that made you cry.
I’m a serious cryer when it comes to reading. Give me the smallest mishap and I’m in tears. The most recent book I’ve read that made me cry was Unearthed by Meagan Spooner and Amie Kaufman (those heartless bastards… Keep doing what you do!)
A really good series, you should get on it!
Plot Holes: A book or series that disappointed you.
If there’s a series I really wanted to enjoy, it would be Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. I wanted to love that book so much. I theory, it sounds incredible but I just didn’t love it. I couldn’t get into it. It has a slow start and I couldn’t connect with the characters. I wish I could. Sorry Kaz fans!
Writer’s Block: A book or series you never finished.
I don’t like to mark books as unread because if I find that I can’t finish a series, I’ll usually mark it to read later. I know that my taste is constantly changing and I’ll always want to come back to the books I didn’t like. (That includes Six of Crows). For this one, I’ll have to say The Painted Man by Peter V. Brett. I loved the first book but I couldn’t fight through the second one. The info dump at the very beginning of the book just turned me off. 😦
Feedback: A book or series you’d recommend to anyone and everyone.
I don’t have one. Growing up in a family of diverse readers, I know that a book choice is very dependant on the type of reader. So, I can’t answer this question, sorry.
