I’m writing a book! And I have been for the past three years. (Yes, really. Three years.) Have I ever spoken about it? Only briefly, but I’m fixing that error now! So let’s buckle down. Grab something to drink, kick up your feet and let’s get started.
I don’t like talking much about the plot of the story I’m currently writing. It’s a contemporary/mental health YA novel. It’s sorta sad but also sorta fun too. I’ve fallen in love with all of the characters. They’re my babies and I will protect them.
Besides finishing the first draft, I’ve also done a complete rewrite of the entire novel and now it seems a little better but it still needs a TON of work. I’m currently halfway through my first edit and I proudly admit that I’m am cutting a lot of words off. I know I’ll need a lot more edits before I’ll be willing to let anyone look at it but I’m super stoked about where it’s going and how it’s happening. I mean, this is my first ever book. It’s the first time I’ve ever completed anything of this magnitude.
I’m very proud of myself.
The first edit is going a lot like I expected it to, a lot of ups and downs. Some of the things I like, others I don’t. I’ve found some things that happen waaaay too sudden and things that don’t happen fast enough. So, it’s a matter of cutting and adding. It’ll be a masterpiece one day. 😜 At least I hope so.
QUESTION: Can you name a secondary character from your story? Yep! Isak 😘
